His Excellency Mr. Tshering Dorji, Bhutanese Ambassador to Thailand, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra at the Government House to bid farewell upon completing his term of office in Thailand.

Prime Minister Yingluck greeted and thanked Mr. Tshering for encouraging good relationships between Thailand and Bhutan. She also expressed appreciations towards His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck of the Kingdom of Bhutan for allowing the Thai government to exhibit a sacred tooth relic of Buddha Kassapa in Thailand since December 2011. The lending of the relic is intended to celebrate the 7th cycle birthday anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej and to boost morale of Thai people, many of whom were affected by the flood situation.

Mr. Tshering said that it was the first time for the relic to be exhibited outside the Kingdom of Bhutan, and the lending reflected the well-established and amicable relations between the two countries.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Yingluck also said she was pleased with the Thai-Bhutanese relations which have been good. The Prime Minister reaffirmed she was ready to cooperate with the Bhutanese government in all aspects as she earlier reiterated it during an audience with HM King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck when he visited Thailand on 21 November 2011.
