The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will this week invite ambassadors of 16 countries which have not yet canceled the terror alert for Thailand to explain the current situation to them.

Foreign Affairs Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul said although the U.S.’s terror alert was still in place, the U.S. embassy had agreed to lower the alert level. The terror alert message which used to appear on the front page of the embassy’s website is now on the inner page.

The permanent secretary for foreign affairs is scheduled to convene with the ambassadors of 16 countries, including the U.S., within this week in order to create a better understanding with them about the current situation in Thailand. The meeting is being arranged as it has been 15 days from the period of 13-15 January, during which the countries feared that terrorist attacks might take place in the Kingdom.
